The Change of Tide

The Change of Tide

In April 2019, professional surfers from Haka Honu embarked on an investigative expedition to explore uncharted waters in Pacific Western Patagonia. After discovering the area, the surfers noticed a significant amount of plastic pollution there, even though very few humans visit the area. They gathered an interdisciplinary team of scientists, filmmakers, and photographers and planned their expedition to collect samples of the plastic in the waters there with plans to take it back to a lab to investigate the situation further. The Change of Tide is a collaborative journey to identify the sources of the plastic pollution, understand the types of plastic that exist there, and discover solutions to mitigate the issue in the surrounding area.
